Any business needs a plan to make money. When we consider Modern Medicine we realize it is a system that only makes money if its public is routinely ill. Ancient physicians were only paid if his or her patients were well, and earned no money at all if they were the least bit sick. Illness rewarded care presents ethical challenges to today’s physicians. Because of need, today’s Western Medicine is constantly reinventing itself with its drugs and surgery to remain viable.
